There’s a time when you realize that time passed by and you are not young anymore.
You run enough, you fight enough, you struggled enough, you did everything you could ever do and you tried even more……
Why so many commas above? Things are not quite how you expected them to be, something looks erroneous, something disconnects. That’s why you need to stop and reflect.
The usual…. Who I am? What I am doing here? Where do I come from?… here are the questions to be answered first to calm your restlessness and structure your journey further and the inevitable where do I go …to show a clear path.
You look at yourself reflected in a mirror of self. At first the picture is hazy because you are unidentified. Later things get clear and take shape. In the end everything is crystal clear. You see yourself the way you are.
This mirror for a photographer is his work, his projects, his thoughts and the way he understands this noble profession.
There is an instant when you should undo TIME and look at everything again.
Every frame, every thought, every intention and movement must be found on that retrospective tortuous road. Once you’ve found them, you have to understand them because that’s the only way you can move forward.
There are times when you feel like you are “the worst photographer in the world” and still be closer to PHOTOGRAPHY than you have never been. You are not able to make a frame anymore, and yet it is now the first time when you click the first time. So far, everything has been a naive play because you have always looked through the camera viewfinder. You have never looked through yourself before. But now it’s time.
You have to let the fighting, the flexed muscles, the noise of the applause and the crowd cheers. These are no longer yours. Let it to those who come after you, the young wolves of photography, those who want blood and the circus, those who want the admiration of the masses and the supreme power. You now have to withdraw. You have other responsibilities in front of you and that is why you can say that work is just starting now. You are no longer a “young photographer”. You’re not “young” anymore. You’re just a photographer with FATHOMLESS possibility.
